The Devon Coast to Coast Route
The Devon Coast to Coast Route runs from the Bristol Channel in the North of the county to the English Channel in the South. The route is approximately 100 miles long with over 70 traffic free miles, including over 30 miles of level riding along the Tarka Trail in the North of the county down to the 21 miles of Drakes trail from Tavistock to Plymouth in the South.

Tarka Trail
The Tarka Trail is named after Henry Williamson’s famous novel “Tarka the Otter”. The story was based around many of the locations along the Trail, which follows the route of a disused railway line between Braunton and Meeth. With up to 21 miles of safe, level and traffic-free riding on offer, a bike is the perfect way of exploring the beautiful estuary of the rivers Taw and Torridge.
Drakes Trail
Drake’s Trail is a network of walking and cycling trails. The network has something for all age groups and fitness levels, starting with the new off-road cycling section between Tavistock and Plymouth.This important part of Devon’s recreational route network runs through superb countryside with attractive scenery along the western edge of Dartmoor together with much historical and heritage interest. But the trails aren’t just about Drake – they take you through wooded river valleys and across open moorland, up close to fascinating wildlife and history.
Granite Way
The Granite Way is an 11 mile multi-use trail running between Okehampton and Lydford along the north western edge of Dartmoor. It is mostly traffic free, largely following the course of the former Southern Region railway line. A journey along the Granite Way offers fantastic views of the granite landscape of Dartmoor, as well as a number of specific sites of geological interest.

We contacted the company from overseas to arrange a 3 day Devon coast to coast cycle trip, with luggage transport along the way. Communication from Tim was always very responsive and accommodating of my various requests (like toe clips, bike bags, changing pedals so my husband could use his own). Service from bike fitting to delivery and pickup was superb, including driving us back to Okehampton when we requested this. My husband used a nice gravel bike, although I had to use a hybrid because of my petite size. Both bikes were in good condition and seats were comfortable for the 150+ km ride. Highly recommend for their professionalism and reliability.

Fantastic company. Hired bikes to ride the Devon coast 2 coast. Tim took us down to Ilfracombe and was really helpful and knowledgeable about the route with informative advice about where to stop and what to expect on the ride. Bikes were set up great and he even found my airpods which I had stupidly left in a pannier. 5 star!

Tim from Tarka bikes did my transfers from Barnstaple to Illfracombe and then back from Plymouth to Barnstaple when we did the Devon coast to coast ride. Excellent friendly service, nothing was too much trouble. I have already booked for my next trip in September
